Acne and Skin Care -- An Introduction

Acne is a most common, yet complex, skin disorder which is confined not only to teenagers, but over 10% of adults aged 25 to 44 will also have an encounter with acne and skin care problems at one time or another.

Don't Forget To Visit No More Acne

This series of articles describes the best skin care for acne strategies you can use to get rid of acne. Acne, being the most common of all skin complaints, affects over 85% of young people from early teens to mid twenties. And some 10% will have acne up into their mid forties.

When left untreated, acne can become infected, leaving permanent pockmarks and some ugly scars on your face. I don't want this to happen to you, so I have researched and prepared these information bites on how to clear up your acne.

Firstly, acne is recognised as a disease. Its medical term is seborrhoea or seborrheic dermatitis. It develops when sebaceous glands which are below your skin, become contaminated with any of the following:
-- Acid waste
-- Bacteria
-- Dead skin matter
-- Dirt from the environment
-- Excess sebum oil
-- Toxic matter

The function of the sebaceous glands is to keep your skin soft and moist. This not only looks healthy and attractive, the sebaceous oils also protect the skin surface from the environment. To perform this function, the glands release their oil through your pores, up to the surface of your skin.

If the oil is prevented from reaching the skin surface by a blockage in the pore, it stagnates and turns toxic. Puss develops and it increases in size as more oil arrives and turns toxic. You now have a pimple developing.

There is a danger of the pore walls bursting beneath the skin. When this happens, white blood cells arrive to absorb and remove the collagen around the pores. This is a damage limitation exercise to prevent further harm to your body, but it does leave a scar on your face.

So, to avoid these occurrences, it is important to start an acne skin care and cleansing programme early. You must begin before you get acne or at the first sign of acne – before black heads and pimples become infected and burst below your skin surface.
Getting to the root of the problem...
keep your facial skin clean!

There are a number of contributing factors to acne. The skin is our largest organ of elimination, so imbalances in the workings of internal organs affect it and acne is a clear signal of a problem that originates elsewhere. Frequently this is in the digestive tract. Poor food digestion, a weak liver, toxicity in the colon are the most common causes for blood to have toxic overload.
